Maple Wood

The maple tree is unique for many reasons. Not only does it provide us with maple syrup (YUM), it’s also the source of some of the most beautiful & versatile wood. With around 128 different species, you’re sure to find a piece of maple that tickles your fancy.

At Stationhouse Studio, we use a variety of sustainably sourced maple, such as spalted, burl, & birds’ eye.

Did you know?

  • Certain maple species have hallow trunks, which make them a great living space for small animals. Kind of like an apartment building for birds.

  • Some maple trees can live for hundreds of years!

  • The fruit on maple trees are called samaras, often referred to as “maple keys“, “helicopters“, or “whirlybirds". These little helicopters spin as they fall and carry the seeds a long distance in the wind.

  • The maple is a common symbol of strength and endurance and has been chosen as the national tree of Canada.
